The deputy director of KHCO, Mr. Chung hosted the seminar. He said that RFID seal system has taken the place of manpower while escorting the transit containers since Jun 1, 2000. It is efficient and successful to achieve the goal of container security and facilitation. Based on the successful experience of KHCO, DGOC promoted it to ports of Keelung, Taipei and Taichung. Now, KHCO applied it comprehensively to transit, transshipment and import/export containers.
The office indicated that applying the system helps customs officers verify the information of in/out containers with the one received by every checking point in the port of Kaohsiung at a real time. It provides the information of container movement status with image in customs 24-7 working hours. It conforms to the requests of container movement security mechanism and auto–monitoring system of WCO SAFE framework and international standards. Therefore, customs improves its management of container security, partnership with global customs administrations and national competitiveness by adopting it.
